It's official the winter season has begun in Western New York. Holiday valley opened on November 24th following a good dump of natural snow. But of course, the snow making at holiday valley is superb and they continue to build their base.
The nine other ski areas of the region have perhaps wisely elected to wait more stable conditions. It could be a matter of cost, surprise, or simply common sense. Too often an early lake effect dump has disappeared atop the warm ground, amid frequent showers or heavy downpours, or the warm winds that blow over off the still warm waters of Lake Erie.
As usual we expect the true winter to provide us a good base with frequent tapping. But of course, skiing is not all about recreation a good portion of the sport is social activity. So come back and visit us again to keep informed of the best opportunities available in Western New York. Come, SkiWithMe.
